CAHSEE

The Test: The California High School Exit Examination. All public school students are required to pass the CAHSEE exam to earn a high school diploma. Tests given are Mathematics and English/Language Arts. The first test is given during sophomore year.

The purpose: To know that your child has met the standards of Mathematics (Algebra 1) and English at a high school level.

How to read results: Results will be mailed home, can be given to the student at their high school, and is also printed on their transcript. Students must score 350pts for each subject in order to pass. If student fails one portion, he/she must retake it until getting 350pts or higher. Students will has 5 chances to re-take the test throughout their high school years.

What the results are used for: Results are used for placement and is also part of the API calculation.

The Cost: Free

Location for testing: Students will take the test at their current high school campus.
