Hello Students and Parents,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! My name is Doug Cooper, and I am beyond excited to begin this new in-person academic year. The 2021-2022 school year will be my 16th year teaching in the Garden Grove District, and will mark my 14th year teaching at Bolsa Grande. With each passing year, I grow more proud to be a part of the Matador family.

*I taught English for my first 8 years in the district.
*Over that period I taught English 1P, 1H, 2P, 2H, 3P, and 4P.
* I taught English at Pacific H.S., La Quinta H.S., and here at Bolsa Grande H.S.

Beyond the classroom, I am involved in our football program. This will be my 12th season that I have coached football at Bolsa Grande. I was the head freshmen coach from 2009-2014, defensive coordinator in 2015, head varsity coach in 2016, and the varsity Defensive Coordinator 2017-2019. I took a year off, and now I'm back as an assistant coach for the 2021 season.

Also, I am the  adviser for the Make-A-Wish Club.  The Make-A-Wish Club works directly with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Orange County. Our purpose is to raise money, for a goal of sponsoring the wish of a child with a serious to terminal illness/disease. Our goal is to raise enough money to sponsor a child and have a life-long dream of theirs fulfilled. For further information about the Make-A-Wish Foundation, please visit their website wish.org.

Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my wife and my 2 children, playing music, golfing, going to the beach, listening to podcasts, and reading!

I am looking forward to a fun, exciting, and rigorous 2021-2022 school year!
