Mrs. Beth Gonzalez » Home

Welcome to my website, I hope you find it informative.  I have been a teacher at BGHS since September 1989. During that time I have taught all levels of ELD, several courses in Family and Consumer Science, and currently serve as ELD Department Chairperson.
I graduated from California State Long Beach in 1982 with a BA in Home Economics with an emphasis in Child Development. My first teaching job was at Irvine Intermediate School in Garden Grove. While at Irvine I discovered how much I enjoyed working with non-English speakers and I began taking classes at UCI and Cal State Long Beach to become authorized to teach ELD. I finished my classes in 1992 and passed my state CLAD examination at that time.
I believe that becoming fluent in English is the key to every student's success. If students become fluent in English, that will open the door to whatever college and career pathways they want to pursue.
My husband and I have 3 daughters. Two are grown and live on their own. My youngest daughter is beginning college this year. We live in Irvine and like to spend our free time enjoying the amazing weather outdoors and other art/music related activities available throughout Southern California.
For the last 5 years I have been involved with the Fellowship Club as their adviser and I am very excited to see that club become merged with FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) to serve a broader group of Matadors.
I look forward to meeting the families of the students I serve.  Please feel free to contact me. The best way is through the district email.
