My purpose in life is to be the change I want to see in the world. As a result, I started volunteering in high school.  Recently, I was recognized as a Big Sister of the Year Finalist; we just celebrated our 10th year anniversary!  As a teacher, my mission is to lead students to realize their full potential so they can follow their passions and be an active and positive member of society. Through research and primary source analysis, history can teach us the context that has shaped our society.  We'll then use discussions, role-plays and debates to make us see multiple perspectives that can lead us towards empathy, acceptance and positive solutions.

A little about me:
I grew up in the district, graduating from Garden Grove High School.  I then attended California State University, Fullerton where I majored in history and graduated Magna cum Laude.  After graduation, I continued my education at Cal State Fullerton to obtain my secondary subject credential in social science.

I spend my summers and some winter breaks traveling with family, friends or on my own.  I've been lucky enough to visit Europe on several occasions finding Edinburgh as my favorite city (with London and Dublin close behind) and Norway as the most beautiful.  I've taken two solo trips to Scotland and Germany. In the summer of 2010, I went to China for about a month to teach children English; it was such a memorable experience.   My favorite thing to see is the culture of the city which is why I LOVE to travel during the holiday season (especially New Years).  I always look forward to future trips whether they be on the road, by sea or through the air.

In the 2017 Christmas season, I got married to an amazing man.  I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by a wonderful group of family, friends, colleagues, and students who have been so supportive during my current battles with cancer. Due to my current treatment, I would need to schedule all after-school appointments.  Please email me at mluna@ggusd.us; I check my email daily, except on the weekends. You can also call the front office and leave me a message.

Good luck to all of us and Fight On!
