BGHS History

Bolsa Grande High School opened its doors in the Fall of 1959, and now enters its fifty-seventh school year.
 
Bolsa Grande High School is a comprehensive high school currently enrolling just under 2000 students, grades nine through twelve, who reside in Garden Grove, Westminster, and Santa Ana.
 
Bolsa's student population is very diverse; 53% of our students are Asian, 36% Hispanic, 7% Caucasion, and the remainder a mix of several other ethnicities.
 
Bolsa Grande was one of the few schools in the Garden Grove Unified School Distict to be recognized as a California Distinguished school. The school was awarded a six-year accreditation (the maximum term a school can receive from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges), in the 2004-2005 school year. Bolsa's API rose from 789 in 2009 to 797 in 2010.
 
In our commitment to academic excellence, Bolsa offers advanced placement courses in English Language and Literature, United States History, World History, European History, Civics, Human Geography, Pyschology, Calculus AB and BC, Environmental Science, Physics, Biology, French Language, Spanish Language and Literature, Music Theory, and Art.
