The ACT is a college entrance exam. The University of California (UC) and the California State University (CSU) systems accept ACT in place of the SAT reasoning. Certain colleges, especially those in the Midwest, require ACT. There are 4 skill areas: English, mathematics, reading and science.

Participating in the AP (Advanced Placement) Program gives students an opportunity to take college level courses while still in high school. Bolsa Grande offers several AP classes. Each class will take an exam that schools worldwide administer in May.

The CAHSEE(California High School Exit Exam) is a requirement for graduation. The test is made up of 2 parts: English and Math. Students need to score 350 points or higher to be considered passing. The first opportunity to take this test is Spring of 10th Grade year. Once a section is passed it does not need to be retaken, however if a section is not passed there will be several opportunities to retake the exam.

The SAT is a college entrance requirement, which assess how well the students analyze and solve problems. Each section of the SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800. The writing section contains 2 sub-scores. The SAT is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors.
