Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band encompasses several other performing ensembles such as: Marching Band, Concert Band, Pep Band, Basketball Band, Jazz Band, Drum Line, and Symphony Orchestra, and provides many opportunities for performance throughout the year.

Marching Band
Marching Band season starts with summer camp in August and ends just before Thanksgiving. The marching band performs at all home football games and field shows during the fall semester. The marching band also performs at the Tet Parade and Strawberry Festival Parade second semester.

Concert Band
Concert band season starts after marching season is over, approximately Thanksgiving. Concert Band performs at concerts in winter and spring. Concert Band also participates in districts events throughout the year as well as Solo and Ensemble performances including SCSBOA Festival.

Basketball Band/Pep Band
Basketball Band attends home basketball games in January and February. Attendance to Basketball games is flexible. Schedules are available far in advance to accommodate busy schedules. Pep Band performs at pep assemblies and other events as required. Music performed includes pep and pop music selections.

Jazz Band
Jazz Band is an elite only group! Not a beginning group! Jazz Band rehearses after school or at a mutually agreed upon time. Instrumentation includes the following: trumpets, trombones, saxophones, guitar, bass guitar, drum set/percussion, and keyboard.

Drum Line
Drum Line is an ensemble that performs using percussion instruments such as: snare drum, quads, bass drum, cymbals, marimba, xylophone, timpani, etc. This ensemble performs at various events throughout second semester. When in competition, the drum line performs during the months of December through April.

Symphony Orchestra
Symphony Orchestra is a collaboration between String Orchestra and Concert Band creating the symphony. This ensemble performs late in the school year, usually in May. Their performance culminates at our End of the Year Concert as well as a Festival Performance at Knott’s Berry Farm.
