In this project you will research about any Ibero-American painter. You have two options:
1. You can choose to replicate the painting of your choice, then present it to the class, and talk about it. In your oral presentation you need to include the year of the painting, the technique used by the painter, the meaning given to the painting, and its influence in the world of art. You need to use 3 minutes to present, thus you need to study the painter and the painting in as much detail as possible. Keep in mind:
a. Who (what) influenced or inspired the painter?
b. What is the painter trying to depict in his/her painting?
c. What legacy did the painter leave for the world of art?
d. What kind, if any, obstacles did the painter face in trying to present his/her ideas to the world?
e. How did the historic moment influence the painter’s work?
2. You can write an essay of at least 300 words utilizing the same guidelines presented above in the MLA format. Bring the painting you’re presenting in a power point to allow the class to visualize it.

En esta presentación debes escoger un tema controversial que tenga que ver con las relaciones que tenemos en la sociedad. Por ejemplo el odio, el racismo, la discriminación, los prejuicios culturales o religiosos, la xenofobia, etc. Vas a escoger el tema, y harás una investigación para desarrollarlo. Debes escoger un libro, una película, una pintura, o cualquier documento histórico como base de tu investigación. Debes luego escribir un ensayo de mínimo 240 palabras explicando detalladamente los eventos ocurridos. En tu conclusión debes incluir sugerencias para solucionar el problema, e invitar al lector a que estudie el tema para que aprenda y ayude a que este fenómeno no se vuelva a repetir en nuestra historia y en tu generación. El formato de tu ensayo debe ser MLF, y debe incluir la bibliografía de tu investigación.
Luego debes preparar una presentación oral de 3 minutos en la que expliques tu ensayo.

Reportes periodísticos semanales.

En esta presentación tendrán la oportunidad de trabajar en grupos para promover una causa social. Pueden escoger un tema tal como la formación de un club para llevar a cabo proyectos en la comunidad tales como ayuda a los ancianos, a los niños sin hogar, el embellecimiento de la comunidad, una campaña política etc. La idea es trabajar en sus grupos y, utilizando el vocabulario de la unidad 2.1 y los mandatos crear una campaña REAL en la que sus ideas puedan ser utilizadas para hacer cambios que necesite la comunidad y la sociedad. Vuestra visión es la visión del futuro de la sociedad y vosotros sois el futuro de la comunidad, y del mundo. Es importante entonces comenzar a pensar en serio, pero con alegría y entusiasmo para hacer de este un mundo más sano, seguro y lleno de armonía y paz.
Cada grupo debe tener una cartelera o power point promoviendo su campaña.

In this presentation you will demonstrate your ability to use the vocabulary acquired in units 1.2-1.3 as well as the grammar (future and reflexive verbs). You are planning a camping trip with a group of friends (maximum 3 per group). Course Description: The different levels of Spanish will concentrate on the Spanish speaking world culture as a means to acquire language skills. It is throughout the process of learning how people live, what they think, and their cultural intricacies that we learn to use a language effectively.
Each student needs to have a binder for the class separated from other subjects, which will be collected randomly twice per semester, and will earn a maximum of 25 points each time.
