English 2H Assignments

Here are the answers to the grammar packet that I gave you Monday.

The monologue assignment is due June 8-10.  I will create a sign up list for the assignment, so students will know the date of their performance.  Students can earn extra points for wearing Roman attire for their performance (toga).  

Read The Old Man and the Sea PPT to prepare you for your Spring Break assignment.  You will need to complete the novel over the break.  The sub will also pass out the novel packet.  DO NOT COMPLETE THIS OVER THE BREAK! You will complete the packet in groups when you return.  Check out pages 2-3....helpful vocabulary to navigate the novel.

Please look over page 629 in your textbook before you answer the questions on the handout.  The poem is on this page with some much needed background information about the setting of the poem.

Over the break read chapters 1 and 2 Of Mice and Men.  Before you read, open and read the intro. attachment. It will give you some background info. for this novel.  Also, there is a vocabulary attachment as well.  After you finish read the first two chapter, complete the chapter 1 and chapter 2 attachments.  This work is due on Monday the 24th.

The revisions for the conformity essays will be due this Friday November 21st.  You will need to correct all issues I addressed in your paper as well as examples I showed on the ELMO.  I will give you the class period tomorrow to start on the revisions.  When you turn in the rewrite, I will also need your original copy.  Make sure to highlight all your corrections.

SECOND, BRING AN ITEM THAT HAS A SCENT THAT IS A REFLECTION OF WHO YOU ARE.  PLEASE PICK SOMETHING THAT IS NOT GOING TO GO BAD.  PLEASE MAKE SURE THE SCENT IS PLEASANT.  WE ARE GOING TO DO A SCENT WRITING LAB MONDAY.  PUT YOUR ITEM IN A ZIPLOC BAG W/ A 12-15 SENTENCE SUMMARY WHY THIS SCENT IS REFLECTIVE OF YOU.  YOU MUST HAVE THIS ITEM TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CLASS ACTIVITY!

MAKE SURE TO READ UP TO CHAPTER 25 IN TKAM.  HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS IF YOU WANT TO GET AHEAD.

Complete the Dialectical Journal handout for homework tonight.  Please print it out. On the front side, pick three to four quotes from Jing-mei and on the backside of the handout pick three to four quotes from her mother.

You need to finish the vocabulary assignment that we started in class Friday.  Also, you will need to complete Activity 5 in the Leopard Man PDF (this includes the quickwrite).
