Hello Students and Parents,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! My name is Doug Cooper, and I’m excited to begin another year of academic and athletic growth. This year marks my 19th year teaching in the Garden Grove Unified School District and my 17th year at Bolsa Grande High School. While my academic background is in History, I have taught both English and History over the course of my career. During my first eight years in education, I taught English 1P, 1H, 2P, 2H, 3P, and 4P. Ten years ago, I transitioned fully into the History Department, where I have since taught World History, Honors World History, AP World History, U.S. History, and AP Human Geography. I am currently teaching AP World History and AP Human Geography. With each passing year, I become increasingly proud to be part of the Matador family. I look forward to a successful, rigorous, and fun school year with all of you.
Current courses I am teaching
AP World History
* This will be my 9th year teaching AP World History.
AP Human Geography
*This will be my 6th year teaching AP Human Geography.
Coaching
Beyond the classroom, I am proud to be the Head Football Coach at Bolsa Grande. This will be my 16th season that I have coached football at Bolsa Grande, and my first year as the new head coach. We have been to the CIF playoffs for the past 3 consecutive years, and we are looking to making it a fourth. Go Matadors!
Clubs
I am the adviser for the
Make-A-Wish Club. The Make-A-Wish Club works directly with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Orange County. Our purpose is to raise money, for a goal of sponsoring the wish of a child with a serious to terminal illness/disease. Our goal is to raise enough money to sponsor a child and have a life-long "wish" of theirs fulfilled. For further information about the Make-A-Wish Foundation, please visit their website
wish.org.
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my wife and my 2 children, playing music, golfing, going to the beach, listening to podcasts, and reading!
I am looking forward to a fun, exciting, and rigorous 2025-2026 school year!
